Allow me to unglue my eyes from the baby eagles who have taken over my free time. I cannot get enough. They are so cute! Nature is amazing! What is life really about?
It’s probably time for a break.

We have started ending (or beginning?) our week with a Sunday family ice cream run and it’s been amazing. When we lived in Houston we would go to breakfast every weekend like clockwork, but between Covid and our move to DFW, we fell out of the habit and didn’t consistently get back into a weekly family outing. Until now.
Having an almost teenager has really allowed me to discover the magic of time in the car. Something about physical change in environment, lack of distractions, and being a captive audience seem to really facilitate dynamic conversations - honestly! I get more information out of my kids in the car and we have good, genuine family rapport when we go for a ride. The ice cream helps too.
I’ve taken to combining toppings to see which combo hits the best and I can say with certainty that oreo and cheesecake are a duo you want to try.

As I shared on stories yesterday, I’ve been making my morning coffee before bed and it’s a habit I’ll be maintaining. I always drink an iced espresso (with stevia and a splash of cream) in the morning, lately while red light masking and listening to the Marketplace podcast. Having that little cup of heaven waiting in the fridge for me when my eyes are still only half open is really gratifying. I just add ice and enjoy the heck out of that to go cup.

I thought for a moment that I was going to have to return to the group chat and let you know that I’d steered you wrong on the Shark Flex Styler, but thankfully it was a false alarm. Mine kept overheating after just a minute, then 30 seconds, and I stuffed it in the drawer for a while out of frustration and irritation that something so expensive hadn’t even lasted a year.
Enter Youtube.
Apparently the filter at the bottom of my hand unit was chock full of dust and hairspray. A quick clean had it back to normal in 30 seconds and I’m back to feeling validated in my purchase, which is always a good feeling.

I’m finalizing my planting plans for the Spring and I’m exactly as excited as you’d imagine. A level 10. My parents are arriving for their annual March visit soon and my mom and I have a tradition over the last few years of doing my planting together when she’s in town. We both really, really look forward to it and each year she teaches me more. These are core memories without a doubt.
I’m planning to try some Irish moss for the first time this year. We have a lot of rocky hardscaping behind our pool that tends to get overrun with weeds and I’m wondering if some moss might help crowd those out? I’ll report back.
As usual, I’m planting my sweet potato vine by the pool - and even more than last year. I am telling you, if you just water this, it will grow faster than you can imagine and is such beautiful, vibrant ground cover.
Sweet potato vine and petunias are my go-to, no fuss, heat tolerant plants and make up the bulk of my spring flowers. I did plant some phlox and lavender last year and am anxious to see how they come back (if they do!).
I love seeing it poke through in the back of photos - it’s so vibrant.
With that, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
If you’re obsessed with the eagles, stay away from the livestream of the pandas. It’s had to get anything done… who knew eating while laying on your back could look so damn cute?
