Holiday Prep Week 7
delivery driver gifting and shopping check in
How is it possible that we’re already into week 7?? I hope you’ve found the last six weeks to be helpful and that you’re feeling more on top of this holiday season than you have in the past.
I have a little bit of shopping and wrapping left to do and then I’m shifting fully into memory making mode (and Thanksgiving and Olivia’s birthday, and all the school things, but I digress). The beauty of having the logistics wrapped up early is that we can just take in the sights and sounds of the season and slow down a bit. A calm holiday is a good holiday to me, and I know how old that sounds, but it’s true.
One of my favorite holiday habits that I’ve been so excited to talk more about is the delivery driver snack cart we set outside our front door. I think this is the 7th year I’ve done this and it’s a really fun and easy way to spread some joy during the holiday season.
It grows a little bit each year (started as a basket which is still amazing and worth doing), but in mid November I roll my little Target craft cart out to the front step and fill it with snacks and drinks for the delivery drivers. I’ve had so many conversations over the years with followers and customers who have partners or family members who work for delivery companies and they all tell me how long the days are and how little time there is to stop to eat during shifts. We rely so heavily on delivery drivers for our holiday joy, so this is a great little way to say thanks and pay it forward. It’s always a hit too, lots of delivery drivers will stop by the Ring doorbell to say thank you - it makes my day!
If you’re wondering where to start/what to buy, the basics are always the most popular. Bottled water, peanut butter crackers, jerkey sticks, popcorn, are always the first to run out.
As far as your job for this coming week, it’s to finish up that shopping. Really buckle down, and make the list of who’s left, and set ten minutes each day to cross someone off the list.
Speaking of shopping, I’ve had lots of items arrive lately that I’ve been excited to share!
This t-shirt for Ryan - if you have a man in your life who loves graphic tees with movie references, you’re welcome.
I got the girls these custom beaded chargers for their tablets. I’m putting these in their stockings and feeling so thrilled that I never have to wonder who has what charger again.
I’m deep into planning Olivia’s Hamilton themed 13th birthday party and love the cake topper and cupcake picks I got on Etsy. I can’t wait to share pictures next month when it’s done!
I got the Higher Dose sauna mat and I can’t wait to use it - send me all your tips if you are a sauna lover.
